play ball!
baseball season is gearing up this year and i wanted to write about some of the great baseball games we’ve been to. i may not have a team, but my husband is a cubs fan. i suppose that makes me one by association.
i once met a bartender that was travelling the country by visiting every major league baseball stadium. isn’t that a cool idea? it’s a great way for a baseball lover to get to watch some great baseball and see the country.

busch stadium
the st louis cardinals. we traveled to st louis for a weekend get away (see my post on that in the future) and to watch the cubs play the cardinals.
this stadium is in a great location right in downtown. it can even be seen from the top of the arch and there are tons of great restaurants within walking distance. we got some great seats down the 3rd base line to enjoy the game in the sun.
globe life park in arlington
the texas rangers. this is my home team and always will be. i’ve been lucky enough to watch baseball here multiple times. we even have a family friend with some great seats right behind the dugout that we have been able to use. with my parents and sister. it is even just down the road from six flags where you can ride roller coasters all day and then catch a baseball game at night.
i remember watching the texas rangers in the world series while i was in my semester at texas a&m. unfortunately they didn’t win, but i watched a game with a friend over margaritas and another grilling hot dogs with my roommate. baseball always brings good memories!
kauffman stadium
the kansas city royals. we’ve been to a few games since moving to kansas city. one with my sister and one with a vendor from work. we even got to sit in a suite for the latter.
this was the year the royals won the world series, so the whole town was abuzz with royals fever and it was really amazing to watch such a big city come together for their local sports team. during the playoffs and world series (where every game seemed to go extra innings) after a win the streets would fill with cheering and fireworks, even at midnight.
wrigley field
the chicago cubs. i’ll save the best for last, at least according to my husband.
we made a long weekend trip to chicago to watch the cubs. i found an amazing airbnb literally a block away from wrigley. you could hear the cheering from the stadium from outside. unfortunately it looks like our hosts have moved, but i still highly recommend using airbnb to get a local experience anywhere you travel.
accommodation
any time we travel i try to use air bnb. if you haven’t heard of it yet, use my link to sign up and get a discount on your first stay (and i’ll get a credit too). i’ve used it all across the country and it truly gives a more local experience and a much more reasonable price allowing us to spend more on experiences rather than where we sleep. www.airbnb.com/c/kheiman5
baseball summary
baseball really is an american past time and each baseball stadium has its own local charm, traditions, and flavor. visiting stadiums for games is a great idea to get to experience multiple cities. you can follow your team across the country to watch your favorite players and get to know the country a little better.
